AIM TELL-A-VISION REPRESENTS “AFROLATINOS” DOCUMENTARY SERIES
~Groundbreaking Documentary Series Shines Light on African Diaspora in Latin America~

January 17, 2012- AIM Tell-A-Vision® Group (AIM TV), the company that pioneered English language programming for American Latinos, announced today they will be representing “AfroLatinos: The Untaught Story®”, a one of a kind, groundbreaking documentary series four years in the making from award winning producer Renzo Devia’s Creador Pictures®.

The AfroLatinos documentary series is the first of this magnitude to be made with the documentary team traveling under often extreme conditions to Afro-Latino communities and locales in over 18 countries to conduct over 200 interviews and gather rare archival footage.

Eight one hour Spanish language episodes are themed to cover the Afro-Latino experience including; History Parts 1 & 2, Religion, Music, Dance, Identity, Women’s Roles & Gastronomy, and Social Issues & Solutions. An identically themed, additional eight episodes in English will include original English language interviews as well as a larger focus on the Afro Latino experience in the U.S.

AfroLatinos Producers, Renzo Devia and Co-producer & Writer Alicia Anabel Santos have enlisted dozens of experts on the Afro-Latino experience and in the process have become experts themselves. They have traveled the Americas conducting workshops at colleges and universities and have helped create one book on the subject with another in progress.

"This documentary series aims to educate the world on the African influence in Latin American culture. We hope to help stop racial discrimination and create more awareness of social issues affecting Afros in Latin America,” states Renzo Devia, Executive Producer of the series.

“AfroLatinos are not a passing trend. This is the story of over 150 million afro-descendants who have been without voice. This is a story that needs to be told and we celebrate AfroLatinos everyday,” states Alicia Anabel Santos, Co-Producer and Writer.

In addition to over 150 Million Afro-Latinos in Latin America and the Caribbean, there are millions more making up a significant portion of U.S. Latinos, the largest minority group in the United States. Millions of dollars are currently being invested in the development of Afro-Latino communities and the U.S. State Department is working with the producers to educate Senators and Congressmen on the issues effecting black communities in Latin America. With the United Nations General Assembly proclaiming 2011 as the International Year for People of African Descent, awareness of the under reported Afro- Latino culture and history is at an all time high.

AIM TV will be attending the upcoming NATPE convention to screen the series for interested broadcast, and cable outlets as well as the media. Visit WWW.AFROLATINOS.TV for more information.
